Opens with John's voice: "Previously on Farscape..."
Scenes from "Eat Me": Inside Talyn. Talyn and Crais have been hurt. Aeryn: "He's been hit hard. Crais!" Rygel: "Talyn's supposedly the meanest, deadliest fighter ship, but somebody's beat the yotz out of him."
Scene from "Eat Me" : The badly decomposing Leviathan. D'Argo: "That's not Moya."
Scene from "Eat Me" : D'Argo and John are inside the diseased Leviathan. D'Argo: "Let's find the parts to fix the transport pod and get the frell out of here."
Scene from "Eat Me" : Chiana is pounding on a closed door. Chiana: "Help!" Kaarvok shoots her and a bubble surrounds her. The bubble splits into two Chianas. Kaarvok: "The gray girl. Very nice. And tasty."
Scene from "Eat Me" : The diseased Leviathan begins to break apart. John and Kaarvok are struggling. As John gets away, Kaarvok shoots a bubble at him.
Scene from "Eat Me" : John hurries through a door. Jool: "Crichton, get in!" She gasps, as does D'Argo. The Crichton who has come through the door is the second John. The two Johns stare at each other. We hear Kaarvoks' voice: "I doubled you. I twinned you. Equal and original."
"Now on Farscape..."
PROLOGUE
Moya with Talyn on an umbilical flies over a cloud shrouded planet. Inside, Jool, holding a large hypodermic needle, is working on Crais. He is inside some kind of metal restraints, lying on a table. The lights flash and there is a rumbling sound.
Jool sighs: "Pilot, can't you keep the environmentals under control?"
Pilot: "Transfusing Talyn is a severe drain upon Moya. Flying in this turbulent atmosphere is even more taxing."
John is in his quarters. He has a part of his IASA uniform in his hand. Aeryn is watching him.
John: "I know it's not as bad as the last time. It's not the Cro-Magnon copy or the Alien Nation reject, but you can tell I'm the original, right?"
John #2: "Wrong." He has come in and is leaning on the door. "I'm the original."
John #1: "Try again pal. Have you been messin with my stuff?"
John #2: "That's my stuff." He walks into the room and stands near John #1. "And you... (points to #1) are the clone. Aeryn, you can tell..."
John #1: "You can see the difference."
Aeryn: "N, no I...I...I can't. I..." She stops, goes over to a pile of clothes and picks up a shirt. "Right. Here, you wear that so I can tell the two of you apart." She hands the shirt, which is green, to John#1.
John#1: "Wait! Why do I have to wear it?"
Aeryn: "Because you're closer. I want to help you sort this all out, but we have bigger problems right now. Talyn is dying."
Green-T John: "But Pilot thinks the chromextin will fix Talyn up, right?"
Aeryn: "If D'Argo can find it on the planet."
Green-T John to Black-T John: "You should've gone down with him."
Black-T John: "Screw you! I'm not gonna leave Crais alone on Moya."
Aeryn: "He is comatose and locked in a medical stabilizer. He does not need guarding from either of you."
Green-T John: "I don't trust him."
Black-T John: "And what if he's lying?"
Aeryn: "Fine! You (to Green-T) go and keep an eye on Crais. And you (to Black-T) go to Talyn and help Stark!" She leaves.
Green-T John: "Why me?"
On the planet, it is dreary and raining. We hear thunder. Inside a city, there is a room full of human-type aliens, all are dressed in black leather or vinyl, men and women. They are all talking and drinking something. We hear Rygel's voice.
Rygel: "Excellent! Can you also provide us with the quantities we require?"
A woman's voice answers him: "Yes, I believe we can do business. How much Chromextin did you want?"
We see Chiana sitting at a table, next to D'Argo. She gets up and walks away.
D'Argo: "Uh, six lenarts."
Rygel: "For which we'll pay handsomely."
Woman: "Still, a transaction of that magnitude will need the approval of the Security Director and he dislikes off-worlders, especially with reputations such as yours."
Rygel: "Reputations? Us?"
Meanwhile, Chiana has gone to a common area to get some food. Two men, also dressed in black with black capes, come in. One of them immediately spots Chiana. He goes up to her as soon as his cape is taken.
Man: "What's this? New talent?"
Man #2 laughs.
Man: "Didn't know Jennet was hiring exotics these days...hmm?" He grabs Chiana's chin and she pushes his hand away.
Chiana: "I don't work here."
Man: "Well, maybe we'll give you a try anyway." He drops a piece of food down the front of her top. He grabs a pair of tongs.
Man: "Ah, don't move. I'll get it for you, umm?"
Chiana starts to back away, but Man #2 stops her.
Man: "Did'ya hear me?"
Chiana: "I tried. I tried not to start any trouble."
Man: "Well, you're not in any touble."
Chiana hisses at him.
D'Argo, coming up behind him: "Well you are."
The man turns around and smirks at D'Argo. He smiles at the other man and turns back to hit D'Argo who promptly cleans his clock and leaves him lying, unconscious, facedown on the floor.
D'Argo: "Every frelling planet."
He walks back over to where the second man is holding Chiana and knocks him out against a wall. All the bar patrons are leaving. The woman Rygel was negotiating with closes her bag and starts to leave.
Rygel: "Where are you going? We still have business."
Woman: "Not anymore. Who do you think that was?"
Rygel: "Oh, yotz! Not the Security Director?"
As the two men crawl up off the floor and look for D'Argo, he pulls his qualta blade and snarls at them. The two men leave.
Woman: "Good luck getting any chromextin on this planet."
Rygel: "Wait. If you think we're leaving empty-handed..."
Woman: "You'll be lucky to leave at all!"
She leaves Rygel, Chiana and D'Argo, who is still holding his qualta blade, alone in the bar.
END OF PROLOGUE
ACT ONE
Stark and Black-T John are on a badly damaged Talyn.
Stark: "No propulsion, no over-rides, no weapons, all bad. Talyn's so still. So near death. Even the DRDs are still."
John B: "I didn't know he had DRDs."
Stark: "He builds them as he grows. Come on."
They go into the next chamber.
Stark: "Primary conduit nexus is completely overloaded. That's why nothing works."
John B: "What about the neural link to Crais?"
Stark: "The link, yes, that's operating. Crais' autonomic functions may be the only thing that's keeping Talyn going. Here. Here."
John B: "That the conduit?"
Stark: "Yah, yah."
John B:"What if you go that backwards? What if we pull Crais' transponder? He dies and Talyn lives?"
Stark: "Tried that. Nearly killed Talyn. (laughs or coughs) We can't break the link. We gotta fix the conduit and restore Talyn's caloric flow. So wake him up."
Back on Moya, Jool has a glowing instrument she is moving over Crais' head. Green-T John comes in.
John G: "Anything?"
Jool: "Yes. I'm hungry and there's nothing sweet on this ship."
John G: "I was talking about your patient."
Jool: "Well, the lautinol injection I gave him seems to be having no effect what so ever."
John G: "I thought you knew something about medicine."
Jool: "I do. I'll have you know I earnt T-ratings in genetics, neuroscience and xenobiology."
John G: "Good. That's what I thought." He starts sorting through some glass vials.
Jool: "What're you doing?"
John G: "Zhaan took some tissue and DNA samples from me a while back." He pulls out a vial. "I want you to compare 'em to me and the clone and figure out that I'm the real thing and he's the wannabe."
Jool: "And why should I do your selfish and unnecessary work?"
John G: "Because I know where Rygel stashes his wahbilly cake. And it's sweeter than a sweet thang, Sweet Thang." Jool looks at the vial and finally takes it.
Jool: "Give it to me."
John G: "Um. Yes." John G leaves the room.
Crais makes a noise. Jool comes over to investigate. Crais' hand reaches up and grabs her by the throat.
Crais: "Why are you? Ah! Release me!"
Jool is feeling around desperately for a weapon. She grabs the large hypodermic syringe and rams it into Crais' leg. Crais screams in pain and eases his grip on Jool's throat.
Jool SCREAMS!!
John G hears her and pulls his gun. He comms: "Hey! Maintenance bay!"
He runs in.
John G: "Crais, let her go." He holds his gun to Crais' head.
Crais releases Jool, who gasps several times.
Finally able to talk, she says: "There, I woke him up."
She yanks the hypo out of Crais' leg. Crais screams again.
Jool: "Now I hope he drops dead." She leaves.
Crais gasps: "Crichton, am I on Moya?"
Aeryn runs in with her gun drawn also.
Aeryn: "John, what?"
John G: "S'okay."
Aeryn has her gun pointed at Crais.
Crais: "What? Aeryn Sun?"
John G: "Yah, you missed that bit."
Crais: "You're alive! How?"
John G: "Let's skip the backstory right now. What happened to your ship?"
Crais: "Where is Talyn? I can barely sense him."
Aeryn: "He's alive, but unresponsive. Moya is supplying nutrients."
Crais: "Where are we? In open space?"
Aeryn: "Low planetary orbit. Talyn and Moya found an atmosphere with a very high nelvastatic index."
Crais: "That may conceal us."
John G: "Who did you piss off this time? "
Crais: "Talyn and I were not the aggressors."
John G: "Course not, you never are. So who was it? The Plakavoids, the Skexies, the Big Bad Wolf?"
Crais: "Peacekeepers. They want Talyn back."
Rygel, on the planet , in an office, bows. "The Luxan will be disciplined. I apologize for his behavior."
An alien woman who is also in the room says: "According to some witnesses, he has nothing to apologize for."
The man who accosted Chiana in the bar, the Security Director, is there too.
Security Director: "You're saying I was at fault? Father, these are known criminals."
He is addressing an older man who is sitting behind a desk. This man has on a metal collar with tubes running into it and is standing in a wheeled device.
Security Director: "The path of destruction they leave gains..."
Rygel interrupts him: "Don't believe those myths. You know how rumors get started."
Older man: "Then you deny your reputation?"
Rygel: "I deny its relevance. We're here for one reason. To buy chromextin."
Rygel flies over to a large tank that has a creature in it. When he gets close, the creature splashes some water out of the tank with one of its tentacles and hits Rygel.
Rygel: "Oh!"
Woman: "Why do you need such a large amount?"
Rygel "Ahhhh. Medical purposes, hummm?"
Security Director: "Chromextin has no medical function."
Woman: "None that you know of, brother."
Security Director: "But it can power weapons. Should we sell them ammunition they can use to attack us? Humm? Their warships, our ammunition."
Rygel: "We have no warships."
Security Director: "Then why hide your vessels in the denses layer of our bonosphere?"
Rygel: "To avoid conflict. I understand that as this planet's ruler, you must protect its people. Be assured, we pose you no threat. Allow us this simple transaction and you'll never see us again."
Woman: "I see no reason not to accomodate them."
Security Director: "I see no reason to let them live."
Woman: "Force is your anwer to everything."
Security Director: "Better than weak, mindless pacif..."
Older man, interrrupts: "Stop! We'll not do business with you. Tolven, they have one arn to break orbit."
Rygel: "But!"
Older man: "After that, force is authorized."
Security Directory (Tolven), to Rygel: "May I show you out?"
Back on Moya, Crais is still in the medical restraint. He is talking to John G and Aeryn.
Crais: "We were attempting to resupply but we were ambushed by four prowlers using strike and retreat tactics. You don't believe me Crichton?"
John G: "Only because I know you."
Crais raises up slightly and puts his hand on the transponder on the back of his neck: "Pilot, I'm accessing Talyn's logs. Please display the signal for us."
Pilot: "Very well, Crais."
An image appears in the air, across from Crais.
Crais: "Talyn destroyed one prowler, but their attack was merely a diversion."
Aeryn walks nearer to the display and looks closely at it.
Aeryn: "That ship...is a Pentak class Vigilante."
Crais: "Yes. Surprising us with an immobilizer pulse, severly overloading all Talyn's systems and dissipating his energy. We barely broke free, initiating starburst, but that drained the last of Talyn's power. I remember nothing further."
Aeryn: "A Vigilante with an immobilizer pulse. What attacked Talyn...was a retrieval squad."
Crais: " They will not relent until they accomplish their goal. Recapture Talyn. And to force Talyn to surrender, they would not hesitate...to take Moya hostage. I will return to Talyn so that Moya can flee," he tries to get up, "...immediately." Crais grunts and falls back onto the table.
Aeryn: "With Talyn's condition worsening, Moya will not abandon him and neither will we."
Back on the planet we see Moya's transport pod.
Rygel's voice: "Alright, start up the pod. We're leaving."
Rygel enters the transport pod and finds it is empty. The door closes with a hollow thump.
Rygel comms: "D'Argo! Chiana! Where are you?"
Chiana can be seen talking to a man dressed in black. There are lots of people around them, talking
D'Argo : "A refreshment house. (We see D'Argo's face) We're trying to find another source."
Rygel: "Perhaps you don't realize, but we've been given one arn to leave. With or without you, I'm returning to Moya."
D'Argo: "You aren't going anywhere."
Rygel: "What? What've you done with the pod?"
D'Argo: "Well, nothing you can fix."
In the mainenance bay, Crais wakes with a start.
Crais: "Did I lose consciousness again?"
Aeryn is standing at a console, near the foot of Crais' medical table.
Aeryn: "Briefly."
Crais: "Is Crichton present?"
Aeryn: "Shall I summon him?"
Crais: "No. There is something I deeply wish to share with you. Talyn was designed with intelligence gathering facilities. He and I have been able to tap into high level Peacekeeper comm channels, accessing their central database. Including your personnel file. Where I found this..."
He holds up a PK vid chip. Aeryn comes over and gingerly takes it from him. She walks over to a console and inserts it. It begins to show a vid of a PK barracks.
A woman's voice whispers: "Aeryn, wake up. Wake up Aeryn."
A woman walks over to a child sleeping on a cot in the barracks.
Woman: "Don't be afraid." Aeryn, watching this, looks upset. The little girl in the vid sits up.
Woman: "My name is Xhalax Sun. I'm your mother. But you mus'nt reveal to anyone that I was here. Do you understand?"
The little girl in the vid, and Aeryn both nod.
Xhalax Sun: "I came to tell you something. Aeryn...your life was not an accident, and it wasn't an assigned birthing to fill the ranks. Talyn...that's your father's name, he and I...chose to have you. You were conceived in love, our love. I wanted you to know this. It makes you special. We wanted you. And we love you. Go back to sleep now."
The little girl lies down and the vid ends.
Aeryn gasps: "My mother."
Crais has gotten up and is standing beside her: "Yes."
Aeryn: "I was never sure whether I dreamt that."
Crais puts his hand on her shoulder.
Aeryn: "And that was on my file?
Crais: "And hers as well. I thought it might interest you to learn of your parents."
Aeryn: "And my father, was he? Did you?"
Crais: "I could find no information whatever about him."
Crais puts the chip in her hand and squeezes her fingers around it.
Aeryn: "Was my mother court-martialed?"
Crais: "There are gaps in her service record. However, its last entry notes a promotion into an elite battle group. Aeryn..."
Aeryn: "Let me guess. The retrieval squad. She's somehow part of it."
Crais: "The squad is under the command of Senior Officer Xhalax Sun."
Aeryn gasps.
END OF ACT ONE
ACT TWO
Jool and John G are in the lab on Moya. Jool has tools in both hands.
Jool: "Remove your lower garments and face away from me."
John G: "What the hell for?"
Jool, sighs: "Oh you asked me. If you want a genetic comparison, I need a specimen."
John G: "Of what?"
Jool: "Well, skin. Unless you prefer I test your internal organs."
John G: "You can stay the hell away from my organs lady."
Jool: "Well, skin then." She reaches for his backside.
John G: "Ah!" He jumps.
Jool: "Preferably with the least amount of exposure to solar radiation."
John G peels back a sleeve: "Shoulder. I use SPF30."
While he's distracted, Jool snips some skin from his rear.
John G: "NO!"
Jool smiles sweetly, holding up the tool: "Thank you."
On the planet, two men, one the second man from the bar, enter an office, past the large fish tank full of blue colored water with the strange sort of "lobsterish" creature in it. They report to Security Director Tolven.
Man #2: "Recn stations report the probe has not left the planet."
Security Director Tolven: "And their other ships?"
Man #2: "Still concealed in the bonisphere. Probes detect an unidentified mass in geosynchronous orbit."
Security Director Tolven: "Co-ordinates precise enough to target?"
Man #2: "Airborne defense says not yet. They suggest concussion missles."
Tolven: "Well, let them fire at will."
Man #2 walks over to control panel, opens it and presses a button.
On Talyn, Stark runs up to John B who is working at splicing wires.
Stark: "It's not working! It's not helping! Talyn's dying, not waking up!"
John B holds up the tool he is using and slowly moves it back and forth in front of Stark.
John: "Astro! Work Now. Freak Later. Work Now. Freak Later."
Stark: "Yes...that's fair."
John B: "Good."
Stark: "How much later?"
Electrical popping and crackling can be heard in the background.
Moya is floating in a mist-filled atmosphere; Talyn is hanging slightly below her, attached to her by umbilicals.
There are several blasts and shocks. John B and Stark are jolted. On Moya, Jool is thrown shrieking to the floor. John G stumbles as he runs towards Command and comms: "Pilot?"
Pilot: "Missiles. Launched from the planet, exploding in the atmosphere."
John G: "Aeryn, I'm going to Command. You stay with Captain Crunch."
Jool: "What about me?"
On Talyn, John B: "Pilot, get the planet on the blower."
Pilot: "I can't. The nelvastatic cloud cover blocks communications as well as scans."
Stark: "They can't establish missile locks so they're trying to flush us out."
John B: "Take us up out of range." John and Stark are headed towards Talyn's bridge.
Aeryn is standing beside Crais, in the maintenance bay lab. He is sitting up on the med table.
Crais: "No Pilot! If we ascend out of the bonisphere, we may be revealing ourselves to the retrieval squad."
Another series of shocks throws Crais and Aeryn to the floor.
John G finally enters command: "Ah, hell! I can't see a damn thing in this soup."
Pilot: "Moya is attempting to extend her senses further but..."
John G: "Oh, there's another one. Brace for the shockwave."
On Talyn, John B and Stark run into the bridge. Stark looks up at the ceiling and holds up his hand: "Noble Talyn, I stand ready to ease your passage into death."
John B grabs his arm and pulls him over to a console.
John B: "Knock that off and help me get weapons back on line!"
Stark: "Why don't you listen? The weapons console won't function." He makes a
"Zhannish" movement with his hand.
John B: "Crais. Are you still in contact with Talyn? Can you get his weapons working?"
Crais: "He has insufficient energy to fire."
John B: "Well, can he do anything? Can he point the damn guns?"
Crais grabs the transponder on the back of his neck: "I believe I can enable targeting."
John B: "Right! Do that. Pilot, I want you to take us down."
Pilot: "Below the cloud layer?"
John G: "Do it, Pilot. I think I know what he's trying to do. He's gonna need a comms channel."
John B: "I'm gonna need a comms channel. Crais, I want you to find the fattest target you can. Government house, missile site, McDonald's. Whatever."
Crais now has both hands on the transponder.
The security officers are looking out the office window.
Man #2, to Security Director Tolven and his father: "Two ships are descending through the bonisphere."
Tolven looks alarmed.
Man #2: "It's a gunship. We're being targeted."
Through the pouring rain, Talyn appears right outside their window, the umbilicals are visible hanging from beneath him.
John B: "Now Crais!"
(Crais has both hands on his transponder and his eyes are closed.)
Talyn's cannon drops down and aims at the people in the office. A large vid of John B appears in front of it.
John B: "Hello Morons. You see this ship? Knock off the missile attack or we take our shot."
Tolven, aside: "Prepare another salvo."
John B: "You might want to check our resume first. We leveled a shadow depository and we're about to turn your city into glow-in-the-dark sand."
Tolven: "Launch missiles!"
Father: "No!" The father motors over to the control panel: "Airborne defenses, stand down." He pushes a button. "The missiles have ceased."
John B: "It's about damn time. Who the hell are you?"
Father: "Rinic Pralanoth, Sovereign of Kanvia."
John B: "John Crichton, Wizard of Oz. You ready to knock off the macho b.s. and talk these things out?"
Rinic Pralanoth: "I'm willing to reopen the discussion."
John B: "Good. I'll notify my reps."
Rinic Pralanoth: "I'd prefer that you and I spoke face to face."
John B: "Fine. I'll come down."
Rinic Pralanoth introduces the man and woman as: "My offspring, Rinic Tolven, Security Director. Rinic Sarova, Services Director."
John B, dressed in his long, leather coat, walks across the office towards the three Rinics.
John B: "So tell me, Rinic, Rinic and Rinic, what's your problem? We come down here to buy something. We don't hassel you. We don't try to take it by force. Hell, we offer to make you rich and you guys break out the pyrotechnics!"
Sarova: "Violence was an error on our part."
Tolven: "Allowing notorious criminals onto our planet was a worse error."
John B: "Criminal. No, no, no, we're businessmen."
Tolven laughs: "Lies."
John B: "That's a big word to throw around son."
Tolven: "I can prove it." He gestures and two security men come up and grab John B's arms. They drag him over to the fish tank and hold his head over it.
John B: "Get your hands off of me! Damn it, let me go! This is not...not necessary."
He is yelling as they're dragging him. He looks into the tank.
John B: "What the frell is that?"
The lobster-like creature jumps out of the water and lands on his face.
John B screams: "Get this thing offa me!"
It crawls on top of his head.
John B: "Damn you people got a funky sense of humor. Get this lobster off my head!"
Rinic Pralanoth: "It won't hurt you unless you lie to us."
Tolven: "I'ts a very intuitive creature. It senses brainwave patterns. And is extremely sensitive to cognitive dissonance."
Man #2: "You lie and it knows."
Rinic Pralanoth, who is in a wheelchair, zips over closer so he can see John and the creature.
Rinic Pralanoth: "And it's been trained to kill..."
The lobster thing waves a blue, pointed arm tip in front of John B's eyes.
Rinic Pralanoth: "when it detects a lie being told." The creature chitters.
Rinic Pralanoth: "Why have you come to Kanvia?"
John B: "To buy chromextin. Period."
Rinic Pralanoth: "For what purpose?"
John B: "None of your damn business."
The creature doesn't like that answer.
John B: "Nothing that effects you."
Tolven: "Are you planning to seize power? Huh? Or perhaps one of the sub-councillors is getting ambitious again. Have you been hired to sabotage our unification?"
John B: "We could give a damn about your local politics. We're here to buy the stuff and get the hell outa Dodge! Why is that so difficult for you to get through your tiny little brain?"
Rinic Pralanoth: "Remove the stranit."
Aeryn and Crais have come onto Talyn's bridge.
Aeryn: "Calorics have dropped to critical levels."
Crais: "The immobilizer pulse overloaded too many of Talyn's systems. Repairs alone cannot save him."
Aeryn: "What can we do?"
Crais: "Nothing until the chromextin arrives. But after that... Aeryn, you must join us. Your mother's involved now. She'll take him alive if possible. But I know Talyn. He'll fight to the death. His or your mother's."
Aeryn: "And you expect me to fight on Talyn's side?"
Crais: "I hope your presence will provide another solution. She loved you. And if that part of her still lives, only you can find it."
Aeryn: "She's an officer, part of the elite."
Crais: "She is nothing. A thug, a mindless assassin as you and I once were. But you can give her a chance to be something more than that."
John B joins D'Argo and Chiana in the refreshment house.
D'Argo: "Daybreak. Talyn may be dead by then."
John B: "It's the best I could do. The old man said it's gonna take him that long to scrap up six ...whatevers."
Chiana: "Lennarts."
John B: "Lennarts. Right. Says there's not enough in any one single parish, so he's gotta send his deputies out to collect it, and who the hell knows if that's true."
D'Argo: "Well, it may be true. I spent the whole day trying to buy some. There wasn't one source that had the whole amount that we need."
Chiana: "I say we just go get guns and steal the stuff."
D'Argo: "We would have to complete ten robberies to do that."
Chiana: "Yah. So what's your point?"
A waitress brings John B a black cylinder.
He looks at it and asks: "Is this a proposition?"
Chiana grins. She stands up and helps him open it by giving it a twist. As soon as she does, a woman's voice speaks: "John Crichton, this is Rinic Sarova."
John B: "Phone! Oh, hey, hey, hey! Uh...How're ya doin?"
Rinic Sarova: "We must speak privately about the Chromextin you require. I fear you'll never get it. Are you willing to meet me alone?"
John B: "How bout we talk about it right now?"
Rinic Sarova: "No. There's a service corridor behind the refreshment house you're in." She twists her phone and the call terminates with a beeping sound.
John: "I don't like it either."
D'Argo: "Hmm."
Outside the refreshment house it is still raining and thunder can be heard. There is a corridor stretching away into the distance. D'Argo and Chiana, swaddled in hooded cloaks against the weather, enter the corridor. John sees them and motions for them to stay hidden. They duck back out of sight. Another figure, that of a woman in a long dress or coat, carrying an umbrella, appears at the end of the corridor, walking towards John. When she reaches him she closes the umbrella and speaks.
Rinic Sarova: "Shall we go inside?" She continues a little way past John.
John follows her: "It's closed. The door's locked."
Rinic Sarova puts a key in the door and opens it: "I own this refreshment house."
John: "In that case, you can buy me a drink."
They go inside, to a second door with a security pad next to it. Rinic Sarova pushes something on the pad, the door opens and they enter.
John B sits on a barstool while Rinic Sarova stands behind the bar and pours the drinks.
John B: "How can there be a problem? Your father promised he'd get us the stuff."
Sarova: "My brother objects. He won't defy my father openly, but he will try to block this transaction somehow."
John B: "And Daddy can't keep him leashed?"
While they are talking, we see an alien hand, red in color, force some red jellied substance through a screen that is across the room from John B and Sarova. It falls to the floor and begins to slither across the room.
Rinic Sarova: "You think my father's weak?
John B: "You tell me."
Rinic Sarova: "Pralanoth unified this planet. He ended the wars between nation-states and brought peace to this world."
John B: "Excepting the occasional missile attack on visiting ships."
Sarova comes out from behind the bar, holding a drink, and stands next to John B's stool.
Rinic Sarova: "That was Tolven's doing."
John B: "Yah. Your brother got a death wish?"
Rinic Sarova: "No, but he wants to rule."
The alien hand drops come blue slime in another part of the room. It too starts to move towards John B and Sarova.
John B takes a drink: "Mmm. Meaning he wants Daddy's job."
Rinic Sarova: "Yes. However, Pralanoth has decreed that after his death, Tolven and I should share power."
John B: "Well, your brother doesn't strike me as the...uh, sensitive power-sharing type."
Rinic Sarova: "We took an oath that we would co-rule, but I'm sure that Tolven will disregard it and seize control."
John B: "Can't you stop him?"
The red and blue blobs of jelly continue to move across the room from opposite directions.
Rinic Sarova: "The conflict would fragment this world once again. I would prefer my father saw reason."
John B: "And put you on top."
Rinic Sarova: "Tolven suspects this. He also knows he lost face when my father over-ruled his missile attack."
Sarova decides to get closer to John B and straddles his leg to sit on his lap. Her rather ample cleavage is directly in front of his face.
John B: "He...uh...could have lost a whole lot more."
He looks down to check out her legs.
John B: "You know, you really don't want to see what our gunship can do."
Rinic Sarova: "But Tolven would risk it. He is sure to interfer with the chromextin delivery hoping to provoke you into...attacking us."
John B: "And he counter-attacks, proving to Pop that he was right all along."
Rinic Sarova: "Yes. I therefore ask for patience." She is feeling his face.
John B: "I've been nothing but patient and...uh... I think you need to understand that I'm under a lot of pressure."
Sarova is breathing on John B's face, while rubbing his back with one gloved hand.
At this point, the blue and red blobs have found each other and are stretching out, side by side.
Rinic Sarova: "I do understand and I will do all I can to hasten the process, even if it means by-passing normal channels to locate..."
Behind her, something catches John B's eye. The two blobs are combining, giving off a light. He shoves her aside just as there is a huge bright flash and explosion. We see both John B and Sarova flung away by the blast.
END OF ACT TWO
ACT THREE
The refreshment house is wrecked. There is debris everywhere and several small fires are burning. John B and Rinic Sarova are near each other on the floor, both hurt. We hear Sarova gasping for breath.
John B grabs a table leg for support as he lays on his side: "Sarova!"
Sarova: "Never thought my brother capable of this."
Chiana: "Crichton!" She and D'Argo come running in from outside.
D'Argo: "He's over there."
They hurry to John B. He has a large piece of metal sticking out of his left thigh.
John B: "Don't...pull it out."
D'Argo pulls it out with a grunt. John B screams in pain and passes out.
Sarova: "Get Crichton away from here. No one must find us together. This meeting never happened. Go! Now!"
D'Argo picks up John B and runs out with him.
Chiana and D'Argo who is carrying John B are running down the corridor.
Chiana comms: "Rygel, we're on our way."
Rygel: "Well hurry up."
Back inside, Sarova is still lying amidst the flames and ruin. Someone approaches her. She looks up.
Sarova: "Come to finish the task, my brother?"
There is a hissing kind of sound as a shadow falls over her.
On Moya, as D'Argo carrys John B in, Jool gasps: "Sylveko! He's bleeding!"
D'Argo: "You have a keen grasp of the obvious. Help him."
He dumps John B down on the medical table. John B is unconscious.
D'Argo: "Help him!"
Aeryn runs down the corridor at full-tilt. She runs up to Chiana, out of breath.
Aeryn: "How is he?"
Chiana: "Don't know yet."
John B is still out. Jool is working on his leg. There is blood everywhere.
D'Argo: "You're doing fine."
Jool: "Yah, right. I could be killing him for all you know."
She puts down the instrument she was using.
Jool: "A major artery's been cut. He's lost a lot of blood."
D'Argo: "Well then replace it. You're a similar species."
Jool: "Are you klempt? Even within my species the sub-types have to match. My blood is donor incompatible."
John G: "Take mine."
He has come in quietly behind Aeryn.
Aeryn: "Really?"
John G: "Yah, I know he's an ugly, loud-mouth son-of-a-bitch, but I can't stand around and watch him die."
John B, whose head wound is still bleeding:"Be better for both of us if you did."
John G: "Yah, I know. Now shut up."
Jool starts the transfusion.
Later, Jool returns to check up on John B.
Jool: "Well, neither his genetic sample nor yours shows any sign of degradation. You're both perfect...if that's the right word, copies of the original Crichton."
John B, who now sports a black bandage on his left temple: "Screw your tests. I'm the original."
Jool: "Of course you are. The other guy said the same thing. Why does this bother you? Don't humans have monozygotic double births?"
John B: "This is different. Twins don't start out fully formed, sharing the same life. This sucks."
John G comes in: "It sucks big time! How're ya doin?"
John B: "Crappy. On the upside, it's easier to tell us apart now."
John G: "D'Argo filled me in on your adventures with the Gotti family, but I need some details from you."
John B: "Why?"
John G: "Because the show must go on."
On the planet, the Rinics are gathered in Pralanoth's office. Tolven is interrogating his sister about the explosion at the refreshment house.
Tolven: "Why won't you tell me the truth?"
Sarova: "I did tell you."
Tolven laughs: "You went to the refreshment house for an after-hours drink...alone."
Sarova: "Yes."
Tolven: "A witness saw a wounded Crichton being taken out after the explosion."
Sarova: "They're mistaken."
Tolven: "Then you deny he was with you?"
Sarova: "Give me Stanit to prove."
Tolven starts to stand up.
Pralanoth: "Tolven! Don't be ridiculous! Sarova would not lie to me."
Just then, John G, who is dressed as John B, bounces in.
John G: "Mornin all! Ho, ho! And what a beautiful morning it is. How ya all doin? We have two, count 'em, two transport pods on your loading dock ready and waiting." He sees Sarova. She is in a wheelchair.
John G: "What the hell happened to you?"
Pralanoth: "A bomb exploded at the refreshment house."
John G: "Naw! (John G tries to look innocent) Well hell, who would do such a thing?"
Tolven: "You tell us. You were there, having a secret meeting with Sarova"
John G: "No. I wasn't."
Tolven: "You were seen. I have a witness."
Pralanoth: "Who also swore that Crichton was badly wounded."
Tolven: "Well maybe his species heals rapidly."
John G: "Maybe your witness was blitzed. Now why, other than a social call, would I be having a secret meeting with Sarova?"
Tolven: "Well I have to assume that you were conspiring to take power. Perhaps you two were constructing a bomb when it accidently went off."
John G:"I want an apology."
Tolven: "I want the truth."
John G: "You can't handle the.." John stops.
He gets up and goes over to the fish tank.
John G: "Let's cut the crap. Lets get to the chase. Stick this critter on mah face."
He reaches in and takes the Stranit out of the tank.
John G, laughs: "Yah! Ho, ho! Ho! Yah! look at the suckers on that boy!"
He carries it back over to the desk.
John G: "Damn! In some parts of the universe, this thing would be considered Good Eatin'!"
He puts the Stranit on his own head.
John G: "My name is John Crichton, Astronaut. I was not at the refreshment house after hours. I was not present at any bombing or explosion. I did not have a private meeting with the beautiful Miss Sarova. The end. Cross my heart, smack me dead, stick a lobster on my head."
He reaches up and removes the Stranit. He places it, upside down, on the desk.
John G: "Our money is in the transport pods. Can we have our stuff now? Please."
Pralanoth: "Give it to them."
Tolven: "Two lenarts are packaged and ready. The rest is still on its way here."
John G: "Then load it up."
Back on Moya, we see John B sitting up. There is blood on the floor beneath his feet. He pushes himself upright and takes a few steps.
John B: "Whoa! Okay...ahh."
Aeryn comes in to see him.
Aeryn: "Oh! How're you doing?"
John puts on his vest and straps on his gun.
John B: "Jool did good. I'm all right."
Aeryn: "Well, Rygel and Chiana have just delivered a partial load of chromextin to Talyn and that may boost his kelvoy levels enough to bring him out of his paralysis."
John B: "So, what's next?"
Aeryn: "Well, now Crais will diverte all of Talyn's energies into storing starburst."
John B: "Meaning he plans to ditch."
Aeryn: "He is protecting Talyn."
John B: "Yah, you keep sayin that."
Aeryn: "Well...you know, he has saved our lives. He did kill Scorpius. I...I don't know what it's going to take for you to trust him."
John B comes over and sits near Aeryn.
John B: "So, you trust him?"
Aeryn shrugs: "Well, whether or not I trust him, this time I do believe it."
On Talyn, Chiana and Stark are carrying in a load of chromextin in little packages.
Chiana: "So what do we do?"
Crais: "Spread it all over the exposed conduits."
Chiana: "Rygel, you take the inner hull."
Rygel: "Huh? Do I look like a drd?"
Chiana: "Yah, you do, actually."
She grabs Rygel and pulls him out of his thronesled.
Chiana: "So make yourself useful and work like one."
Rygel sputters in protest as she shoves him through a hole into the ship.
Rygel: "Here's another dark and smelly place. I hate being useful!"
Chiana keeps handing him packets of chromextin: "Yah, we know."
To Crais: "Where else?"
Crais points and Chiana joins Stark in opening packets and squeezing the red material onto Talyn's conduits. Crais isn't feeling well. He quickly feels worse and falls to the floor. He starts screaming.
Crais: "What...have you done?"
Chiana goes to him: "Crais, what's the matter?"
He appears to be having a seizure. Stark joins Chiana: "Crais, what is it?"
Crais: "Murderers! Help me!"
Chiana: "Hold him down."
Stark: "What's happening? Crais, what is it? What's happening?"
Crais screams: "POISON!"
END OF ACT THREE
ACT FOUR
On Talyn, Stark and Rygel are with Crais.
Crais: "The chromextin should have acted as a stimulant. Instead it sent Tayln and me (into) convulsions."
Chiana is with Jool in the lab on Moya. Aeryn is in the background, packing a bag. Jool is looking in a microscope: "Well, it's definately chromextin. But apparently it's laced with chlorium."
Chiana: "What's chlorium?"
Aeryn: "An anesthetic that numbs leviathans."
Jool: "Oh, mixing that with a stimulant probably wasn't a very good idea. Anyway, glad I could help, but it's been an extremely long day."
Jool starts to leave as John B comes in. He is carrying his IASA flight bag. He grabs Jool's arm as she passes him and spins her around and leads her back to the table.
John B: "Sorry Jool, we need you to work some overtime. We need to strain the chlorium out of that stuff."
Jool: "With this equipment it's gonna take forever and, even if I was sure of how to do it, which I'm not...hunh!"
John B interrupts her: "Pilot?"
Pilot: "Yes, Commander?"
John B: "Can Moya filter out the poison like she did when Aeryn was sick?"
Pilot: "Moya is willing to try."
Aeryn: "You sure it won't harm Moya, the chlorium?"
Pilot: "Her mass is much greater than Talyn's. She believes its effects upon her will be minimal."
Aeryn has finished packing her bag. She picks it up. As she is leaving, she says: "Alright, tell Chiana and Jool what to do. I'm heading back to Talyn."
John B, carrying his flight bag, is right behind her: "Same here."
Chiana and Jool are working on cleaning the chromextin by filtering it through a part of Moya. There is a pile of little packets of red stuff on the floor.
Jool: "You open, I'll pour."
Chiana: "Fine."
She rips open a packet and hands it to Jool. As Jool pours it into the opening in Moya, quite a bit spills out onto the floor.
Chiana: "You're spilling it!"
Jool: "Uh! You wanta pour?"
Aeryn is sitting at a control console on Moya.
Aeryn: "The retrieval squad are here. They have to be."
John B: "I think you're right."
Aeryn: "Do you know John, that if we can revive Talyn, we have to starburst away immediately and we can't go back?"
John B: "Yah, I kinda figured that when I saw you packin your bag. We heading down?"
Aeryn: "Yes. I'm just going to duck under the bonisphere for a microt so we can contact them with the news."
John B: "Oh, that's gonna make em really happy."
In Rinick Pralanoth's office, John G is whipping up on Tolven.
John G: "Hey! You been screwing me from the beginning."
Pralanoth reaches for the control buttons but D'Argo stops him.
D'Argo: "Uh uh. I don't think so."
John G: "Screwing everybody. Screwing your sister."
John G puts his gun to Tolven's head: "You been lying to your daddy boy. And you know you shouldn't lie to your daddy. That's gonna stop. Who's your daddy? Come on, you know who your daddy is. Who's your daddy? D'Argo, tell 'im who his daddy is."
D'Argo: "I'm your daddy."
John G: "That's right. You're gonna start telling the truth!"
He drags Tolven over to the fish tank and holds his face over it. The Stranit jumps out of the tank and attaches itself to Tolven's head.
John G: "The prosecution calls Mr. Rinic Jr to the stand."
He hauls Tolven, Stranit and all, back over by Pralanoth and D'Argo.
John G: "Did you poison the chromextin?"
Tolven: "What are you talking about?"
John G: "It was poisoned with chlorium. Did you contaminate it?"
Tolven: "No."
John G: "You had nothing whatsoever to do with poisoning it?"
Tolven: "Nothing whatever."
D'Argo: "Then who did?"
Tolven: "I dunno." He smiles. The Stranit makes a chittering sound.
John G, to Pralanoth: "Does this crab thing always work?"
Pralanoth: "In a few rare cases, a disciplined mind has managed to fool it."
John G: "Geez, you tell me that now?"
Pralanoth: "But my off-spring are not liars."
John G: "Hah! At the refreshment house, did you plant the bomb or have it planted?"
Tolven: "No and no."
John G: "But you fired the missiles at our ship?"
Tolven: "Oh, absolutely."
John G: "And you didn't want us to get any chromextin?"
Tolven: "Of course. I never thought you should get any. But when I've been over-ruled, I've complied with my father's orders."
John G: "Yah. Aint you just the good and loyal son."
The critter on Tolven's head draws back its pointer and chitters.
John G: "I'm sorry. I didn't hear that. Are you not a good and loyal son?"
Pralanoth: "Tell him."
Tolven: "I don't have to answer to him."
Pralanoth: "But you do have to answer to me."
Tolven: "I don't need to prove myself. Get this thing off me! Do you hear me?"
Pralanoth: "Do you hear me? Answer!"
Tolven: "Father!"
Pralanoth: "Have you been disloyal? Yes or no? You swore an oath to this family. Have you dishonered it? Do you intend to?"
Tolven: "No!"
The Stranit strikes him in the forehead, right between the eyes and continues to burrow into his brain. We see blood pouring out. Tolven slumps forward, dead.
Pralanoth: "Get out of here!"
John G and D'Argo leave.
On Talyn, Crais is at a console.
Crais: "Stark, power is returning. Keep splicing those conduits."
Stark, in the background: "Splicing, fixing, fixing, splicing, splicing, fixing, fixing, splicing."
Aeryn and John B come aboard. Crais hears them and turns around to address Aeryn. Crais: "Talyn is..."
When he sees John B, he stops short, in mid-sentence.
He turns back to the console: "Talyn, can you hear me?"
Talyn makes some 'beeping' noises.
Crais sighs: "Welcome back."
Aeryn: "Can he starburst?"
Crais: "Not yet. But the treatment is working. Karecks are rising."
In Pralanoth's office, Sarova, in her wheelchair, asks: "Where are they?"
Man #2: "Must be back aboard their ships. All their transport pods are gone."
Sarova: "Fire concussion missiles."
Pralanoth: "No!"
Sarova drags herself out of the wheelchair and leans over her father's desk: "Father, we must avenge Tolven."
Pralanoth: "There's nothing to avenge. Tolven's betrayal is what caused his death."
Sarova feels his cheek gently, then reaches down and yanks the airhose out of his collar. Pralanoth gasps. Sarova strikes the security officer hard, in the throat. He falls to the floor. Pralanoth also falls but reaches for his airhose. It lies just out of his reach. Sarova goes to the contols and pushes a button. She no longer has any trouble walking. Pralanoth dies.
Sarova: "Airborne defense. This is Sarova."
On Moya, Chiana is in command. John G and D'Argo enter.
Chiana: "About time!"
John G: "Anything goin' on?"
A shock wave hits. We see sparks on command.
On Talyn, John B and Aeryn are jolted.
John B: "Okay, here we go again."
Crais: "Talyn can't take this punishment. Pilot, we must ascend."
Pilot: "But is Talyn recovered enough to starburst?"
Crais: "Irrelevant now! We can not stay here. We dare not descend. Release the umbilicals!"
Pilot: "Moya refuses."
John B: "She won't leave Talyn behind, naturally."
Crais: "If Moya will not disengage, I will. Talyn! Listen to me. You must ascend."
Aeryn: "He's right, Talyn. Let Moya get to safety."
Crais: "Do not resist me."
We see the umbilicals fall away from Talyn. Both ships begin a steep ascent through the cloud layer.
Pilot: "We're out of the bonisphere and Moya's sensing a Peacekeeper scan. Talyn, starburst immediately!"
Crais: "Now Talyn. Yes, you can. You must!"
Talyn starbursts.
On Moya, John G, D'Argo and Chiana are on command.
Pilot: "Talyn's done it. He's escaped. Prepare for immediate starburst."
As Moya starbursts away, we see several Peacekeeper ships approaching the planet.
Looking down the corridor outside the refreshment house, Sarova is visible through a window in a door. She is inside a room. She gasps. Her face seems to change, deform. Then it does change. There are lots of teeth. She flails around and gradually transforms into the red alien creature. It smashes its hand through the glass and grabs a man who was walking past, down the corridor. It throws him, and kills him.
A dark figure, carrying a rifle, approaches down the corridor, through the rain.
A woman's voice says: "Have both ships starburst away?"
Red Alien: "They must've discovered the chlorium contamination and filtered it out."
Now the woman's face is visible. She is Xhalax Sun.
Xhalax Sun: "How much chromextin did they get?"
Red Alien: "Two lenarts. A third of what they asked for."
Xhalax Sun: "Then the gunship will remain debilitated for some time. We need only find it." She turns and walks away.
Red Alien: "I failed. Aren't you going to kill me?"
Xhalax Sun: "Come on."
Red Alien follows her.
END OF ACT FOUR
EPILOGUE
On Moya, John G and D'Argo are in Crichton's quarters. John is walking around, picking up things and putting them back down again.
John G: "He took Winona!"
D'Argo: "Well, at least he left you this...lovely jacket." He holds out a black jacket.
John G: "I was wearin that." He grabs the jacket away from D'Argo and throws it down.
D'Argo: "Ah, come on. Crack a smile, will you? At least he's out of your nose."
John G: "Hair."
D'Argo: "Yes, what I meant. At least he's out of your nose hair."
John G: "My notebook! He...he took my notebook and my pen! The son-of-a-bitch set me up! He set it up so he's on Talyn with Aeryn!"
John G sits at his chess table and opens a flask. As he goes to pour from it, he finds it is empty.
D'Argo: "Now, wouldn't you have done exactly the same thing?"
John G: "No I would not. Yes!" He knocks the chess pieces to the floor: "Maybe. I don't know. I just. I just hope he's havin a good time. No! Forget that. I hope he's having a terrible time. I don't know what I hope. He just better be takin care of her."
D'Argo: "I'm sure he's taking care of her."
John G holds a finger up: "You know what I mean."
On Talyn.
Rygel: "What do you mean you're not taking us back to Moya?"
Stark: "Rygel, we can't go back yet."
Crais: "There will be no...contact with Moya until the threat of the retrieval squad is resolved."
Stark: "He's right Rygel, so we just have to accept it gracefully."
Rygel: "Frell gracefully. Well, if I must be imprisoned here, feed me and show me to my quarters."
Crais: "Talyn's passenger facility isn't fully developed yet. Food will be tightly rationed. And you two will have to share accomodation."
Rygel gasps: "Unacceptable!"
Stark: "There'll be my side and your side. My side, your side."
Rygel: "Don't start."
John B and Aeryn put down their bags on a bench.
Aeryn: "Look, do you...do you really know what you're in for?"
John B: "Oh, I never do. Is there something that, uh...you're not telling me?"
Aeryn stands with her hands on her hips, looking at him. She purses her lips, then seems to come to a decision.
Aeryn: "The retrieval squad is commanded by my mother."
John B: "Your mother?"
Aeryn smiles at him and nods.
John B: "Right. She's out here. Chasing Talyn. Yep. How do you know that?"
Aeryn: "Crais told me."
John B: "Crais. Look, there are zillions of Peacekeepers. Why would your mother be assigned?"
Aeryn: "You really think it's a coincidence?"
John B: "No."
Aeryn shakes her head: "I have to assume that they are aware of my relationship with Talyn and that they are hoping that my mother's presence will divide my loyalties. But I will not let them get Talyn back. Even if it means I have to kill her."
