Episode 4.01 - Crichton Kicks
Previously on Farscape (voice of Scorpius):
Scene One: Moya flies in the Leviathan Sacred Space, followed by the rogue Leviathan. John's voice is heard, saying: "When I was a kid..."
Scene Two: from "Dog with Two Bones", John is sitting in Moya's galley: "...I dreamed of outer space."
Scene Three: from "ITLD, Part 2 Wolf in Sheep's Clothing", Starburst builds around Talyn inside the Command Carrier and he explodes outward. Flames are seen shooting out of the carrier and escape pods fly past.
Scene Four: from "Wolf in Sheep's Clothing", John and Co-Kura Strappa fight inside the lab, as the carrier is collapsing. John: "This ship is dead! The wormhole experiment is over."
Scene Five: from "Wolf in Sheep's Clothing", Scorpius stands on a stairway that has become a waterfall. Flames periodically hiss and flash around him. "Salva Me" plays in the background.
Scene Six: from "Dog with Two Bones", Pilot is speaking as Moya is seen to release Talyn's bodyparts into the sacred space. The rogue Leviathan is flying close behind her. Pilot: "Moya feels Talyn has earned the right to be buried in the sacred space." From inside the galley, the old woman watches the release of Talyn's remains.
Scene Seven: from "Dog with Two Bones", D'Argo and Rygel are in Moya's galley. D'Argo: "We all knew the time would come when we'd split up."
Scene Eight: from "Dog with Two Bones", John joins Aeryn in the hangar bay, near her prowler. John: "I'm coming with you." Aeryn: "No. I'm sorry." John: "Do you love John Crichton?" Aeryn: "Do you love Aeryn Sun?"
Scene Nine: from "Dog with Two Bones", John kisses a reluctant Aeryn.
Scene Ten: from "Dog with Two Bones", Aeryn is standing with her back to John, tears streaming down her face: "Then don't make me say good-bye and don't make me stay."
Scene Eleven: from "Dog with Two Bones", John is sitting alone in his module. Aeryn is visible in her prowler, right outside the module's side window. The old woman's voice begins to whisper to John: "Aeryn is..."
Scene Twelve: from "Dog with Two Bones", the old woman is whispering in John's ear: "... with child."
Scene Thirteen: from "Dog with Two Bones", John is in his module and comms: "Pilot. Patch me through to Aeryn." Pilot comms back: "She is beyond our range, Commander."
Scene Fourteen: from "Dog with Two Bones", Aeryn has tears streaming down the right side of her face.
Scene Fifteen: from "Dog with Two Bones", John is at his module's controls: "Get a fix on her position. We're goin after her."
Scene Sixteen: from "Dog with Two Bones", A wormhole suddenly appears, swallowing Moya. Pilot: "Commander! We're being drawn in.... Commander!" The voices break up into static. "La Crimosa" is playing in the background. The wormhole winks out and John, in his module, is alone in space. John: "You have got to be kidding me." "La Crimosa" continues to play as the camera pulls back, leaving the module hanging alone in space.
SOME TIME LATER...
John comms: "I know I seem a little obsessed lately, but it's been a long time since you rescued me. Are you hearing any of this?"
A long haired, bearded John is sitting in his module.
"Pilot, if you're there... almost out of fuel. Need a little help."
The module is hanging in space, above a Leviathan.
John: "Look, I'm trying to apologize. I accept my friends aren't coming back from the wormhole. You're on a beautiful old ship, and I can't leave you guys, so please let me back in."
John comms again, louder this time: "Yo! Your ladyship!"
A decrepit looking female Pilot startles when John yells: "I'm sorry, Commander. I must have... dozed off." Her voice shakes with age.
John finishes her sentence along with her: "...dozed off." He laughs quietly.
A DRD is scooting along a dimly lit corridor in the Leviathan. John is moving with it, kind of dancing along. The DRD is playing the "1812 Overature" and John is half humming, half singing along with it. He bends over it to conduct.
John: "Faster. Faster. Allegro. Allegro." (in an Italian accent)
He continues in front of the DRD, dancing backwards: "Now, bring in the horns!" He is dancing and singing and waving his arms to conduct as he travels through the corridor. His hair and beard are both long and curly. He is wearing pants and a long, tunic like top that is ragged at the bottom. The visual impression is of Robinson Crusoe.
The DRD is sitting on a ledge and playing. It has a sign wrapped around it that says: "1812"
John is laying by the Pilot, holding up a ball and twirling it in his hand.
Lady Pilot: "There is a store of crylliun alloy ore on tier 7 which might be..."
John: "Uh, no, no, no. My module can't process it without purification and reduction."
Lady Pilot: "Then there's nothing aboard that can facilitate your escape before we die. So few Leviathans are able to end their physical existence in this sacred space. Elack and I promised each other this when we were joined, over three hundred and fifty cycles ago. I'm sorry."
John: "Whelp, could be worse. You don't roll in, I'm dead long time ago. Besides, I've almost cracked "Wormholes for Dummys". Why would I stick around after that?" He throws his arms up in the air and whoops... "Waa!"
"1812" is sitting in a maintenance or cargo bay, still playing its song. There is a homemade still in the bay and lots of crates piled around. There is writing on the sides of the crates and also on the walls. John is in another part of the bay, working on something. He is still humming along and waving an arm to "conduct" while he works.
Lady Pilot comms: "John. Sorry I didn't notice it sooner, but there's a small craft approaching."
John continues to work and wave. He takes a drink out of a small glass. He jumps down and begins to dance, waving his arms over his head. He dances past his module and goes over to where the DRD sits, next to a glass that is filling from the still. John picks up the glass and drinks from it, as the music builds towards its rousing conclusion. John sets down the glass and swallows whatever was in it. He grimaces when he does.
Outside the Leviathan, a small craft is seen, hurtling towards it.
John rubs his beard, thoughtfully.
Lady Pilot: "Commander. It is out of control."
The song finishes with a flourish. John watches as something comes into the bay, through the inner hull of the Leviathan. Sparks fly and things are thrown all over with loud bangs and crashes. John picks up the DRD and holds it protectively as he backs away from the crash. A tiny craft finally comes to rest against one the inner walls. There are flames in several areas of the bay and a small explosion. When it is finally quiet, John puts the DRD back down on the floor. He pats it on the side: "Go fetch."
The DRD moves over towards the small craft.
John stands and watches it, still drinking from his glass.
A hatch opens on the side of the craft. Amongst the smoke and flames, a creature is seen emerging. It appears humanoid and makes a small gasping sound as it steps out of the craft. It looks around, takes a step or two, then spots John and stops with a gasp. John pulls his pistol and points it at the alien. The alien appears to be a female. She is wearing a scoop necked tank style top and short skirt. Her hair is sticking out from her head in what looks like small springs. She takes a deep breath and speaks to John.
Alien: "If you are sober or sane enough to understand, I suggest you aim that behind you."
John continues to hold the gun on her and takes another slug from the glass.
Alien: "The creatures following me execute on sight."
John smacks his lips: "Ahh!"
Alien: "Now. What are you going to do for me?"
John glances around and laughs.
END OF PROLOGUE
VOICEOVER - SEASON 4 CREDITS
My name is John Crichton, an astronaut. Three years ago, I got shot through a wormhole. I'm in a distant part of the Universe, aboard this living ship of escaped prisoners, my friends. I've made enemies. Powerful, dangerous. Now all I want is to find a way home... to warn Earth. Look upward and share the wonders I've seen.
ACT ONE
In the Leviathan's cargo bay...
Alien: "This is a dying ship. There shouldn't be anyone onboard a dying ship."
John still has his pistol pointed at her. Behind him, there are several small fires burning from the collision.
John: "Absolutely correct, Tinkerbell. Okay, my turn. Who, what, when, where, why and how?"
Alien: "You must listen to me."
John: "Oh, no." He pulls back the pistol and uses it to gesture as he talks. He turns and walks away from her as he talks. "No, no. I'm no good at listening."
The alien follows him into the bay.
Alien: "My brain cannot tolerate translator microbes. I'm..."
John points the gun at her again, as she stops in front of him.
Alien: "I must learn your language through hearing it."
John looks confused.
Alien, holding her hands up towards John's pistol: "This. The name. The word."
John: "Winona. My pulse pistol." He brings it up and kisses, then holsters the gun.
The alien nods: "More words." She points at something to the side. John ignores her and starts to drink out of the glass. The alien runs up to him and puts her hands on both sides of his face.
Alien: "They will be here soon, and you will be dead before you see them." She points emphatically at something.
John: "Module."
She nods and points again.
John: "Box."
And again...
John: "Workbench."
and again...
John: "Junk."
John begins to point at things as he names them: "More junk. Tools. Bulkhead. Ceiling. Floor. Shirt. Wine (holding up the glass). Face (feeling his beard)."
The alien interrupts him, loudly: "Your alphabet. In order."
John laughs: "God. Haven't done this in a long time."
He stands nose to nose with the much shorter alien as he begins to sing: "A, b, c, d, efg. H, i, j, k, lmnop. Q,r,s, t,u,v. (louder, with his back turned, walking away) W, x, y and z."
He turns back towards her, gesturing with his arms: "Now I've sung my ABC's..."
The Lady Pilot interrupts: "Commander?"
John stops singing: "...yah. Hello."
Lady Pilot: "Another vessel approaches. A much larger one."
Alien: "Can she starburst?"
John whirls around, pointing at the Alien: "Ahh, ahhah! You speak pilot."
Alien: "Yes."
John: "Right. Of course you do." He pulls down his finger. "Uh, no. Dying ship, remember? No starburst. Meuerte. Dead. Toast." He starts to walk away again.
The alien follows him: "Make sentences. Nouns, verbs."
John stops and turns around: "Okay. Once upon a time, I was happy here. Little... on the lonely side, but that's okay cause at least Winona only had to start cooking fires. You know, fire, whoosh, fire. (he gestures around the smoldering cargo bay) Module's outta fuel, so it's not going anywhere."
The alien follows him as he walks away, still talking.
John: " So I'm workin like a mofo. And everything is finally comin together on these crates here (he touches a stack of written on crates) til you... smash through, pissing me off... just a little bit." He spins around, ending up nearly nose to nose with her, again.
Outside the derelict Leviathan, another ship is rapidly approaching.
John: "You see, the only thing that I still had going for me, you just destroyed lady. Yeah!"
He smacks his hand on a crate.
Alien: "Grudeks will shock the hull, incapacitating most functioning."
John: "Damn. Wh... what about the pilot? Meurte pilot? Meurte, meurte pilot?"
Alien: "No pilot morte. No, they need her alive to harvest the toubray tissue."
The much larger ship nears the Leviathan and slams directly into it's side, pointed nose first.
Inside the cargo bay, both John and the alien girl are thrown to the floor. The Lady Pilot cries out in pain and alarm.
The alien girl jumps up immediately: "We need an enclosed space, with self-contained circulation." She looks around the bay and comes back to where John is still lying on the floor amongst the crates.
Clouds of white smoke or fumes begin to pour out the front of the alien ship, where it's prow has pierced the Leviathan.
The alien takes John's hand and tries to pull him along: "They are going to fumigate!"
A small round device rolls into the bay near them and begins to release a cloud of fumes. The pilot's den begins to fill with fumes. The Lady Pilot cries out: "No! No!" She puts her arms up in a vain attempt to ward off the fumes. The ship fills with the fumes.
Inside John's module...
John: "Grudeks. Grudeks. God, I love 'em. Who the hell are they?"
The alien is sitting on top of John, inside the module: "Toubray hunters."
John: "You got a quick ear."
Alien: "Toubray is Leviathan neural cluster tissue. Many cultures consume it to enhance higher brain function."
John: "And you were with 'em?"
The alien nods: "Til I fled for my life."
John sniffs loudly: "That's gonna be your song, you don't give me an explanation."
The alien reaches around John to one of the module controls.
John: "Bah! No touchy."
The alien pulls her hand back: "The organization I work for was hired to find Leviathans. I was given half a cycle to become an expert on their functions and their habits."
John nods: "Uh, you can cut 'em up into sushi."
Alien: "Why do you think I worked so hard to find the sacred death space?"
John: "Cause old Leviathans are easier targets?"
Alien: "And the toubray is richer with age, so the Grudeks are happy. But, my reasoning is this Leviathan is near death anyway. Harvesting it is better than killing a healthy creature... and everyone onboard."
John, making hand motions like a dolphin swimming: "So you "Jacques Cousteau" your way upstream to where they die. Least you've thought about it."
In John's mind...A beach scene, with the sound of roaring surf. A young woman, wearing a bikini, stands and takes a shirt off, over her head. John, wearing shorts, shirt and sunglasses, runs through the surf near someone carrying a surfboard.
Voice of Harvey: "Your capacity for self-delusionment astounds even me!"
John stops running and turns towards the voice. Harvey runs into the picture. He is wearing the "Mambo shirt" from "Crackers Don't Matter" and a straw hat.
Harvey: "And I live inside your curdled brain."
Harvey continues to trot along as John runs through the surf again, occasionally bending over to swipe at the water.
John: "Hey man. If you don't like the Baywatch thing... head inland." He points up the beach.
Harvey snots in disgust and tries to get in front of John: "How many men have a goal, a challenge, a destiny as clear as yours?"
Harvey stops John by putting both of his hands on John's chest.
Harvey: "Stay focused on the riddle of the wormholes. Affect the things you can."
A couple of bikini clad girls walk behind John and Harvey notices them. He gets closer to John and speaks right into his ear.
Harvey: "Satisfy yourself John. Snow cone?" He goes off after the girls.
John points after him: "Uhh... cherry."
Aeryn is lying on the beach with her back turned. She is wearing a bikini with a blanket or wrap over her legs. Her hair is in pigtails. A music box begins to play in the background.
Aeryn: "He's right, you know."
John turns and walks towards her: "Tell me again."
As we see her face, Aeryn is reading a book.
John: "Why did you leave?"
Aeryn smiles and shakes her head: "You assume that the answer is going to be different from the other thousand times you've asked the question."
John: "Because is not an answer."
Aeryn sits up and clumsily rolls over. She is hugely pregnant. John looks away while she shifts around. Aeryn, breathing heavily, puts a hand on her belly: "I'm not right for you, John. I was just the best of limited choices."
John: "That's my kid, you know. That's Crichton's kid."
Aeryn, rubbing her belly: "This is my child."
John shakes his head disgustedly and waves a hand at her: "Whatever." He walks away.
A line of aliens walk inside the Leviathan, carrying tools like long-handled axes as well as various barrels and crates.
1st Grudek, speaking into a handheld device: "Extraction party secure. Breathable atmosphere. Ye'et to Command, report." The alien has a Russian sounding accent.
The Grudek ship comms back: "Awaiting M'Lord."
1st Grudek: "Scout the region. Identify additional prey. Await my summons."
Grudek ship: "As you command. Good hunting."
The Grudek ship flies away from the Leviathan.
The Grudeks look around the cargo bay. One of them lifts up the canopy of John's module with his axe. The 1st Grudek strikes the side of the now empty module.
1st Grudek: "Five thousand grandars for whoever locates the etal cavity!"
The Grudeks cheer.
1st Grudek: "And a thousand more for the female corpse!"
The Grudeks cheer again.
John whispers: "Come on Pilot. Snap to. Come on."
He and the alien girl are in the Lady Pilot's den. John is holding the Pilot's head in both hands. The Pilot's lips move and she makes a low sound, but her eyes are still closed.
Lady Pilot: "Nahala."
Alien: "Just boost fluid to her hydrex gland."
John looks at the alien and then gets down inside the console.
There is the sound of liquid squishing and the Lady Pilot yells loudly.
John jumps up and clamps her mouth shut. The alien says: "Shhh!"
John whispers: "Shhh! We have bad guys onboard. Can you space 'em?"
Lady Pilot: "Elack is still dazed and I have virtually no systems at my disposal. I recommend you save yourselves."
The alien gets down off the console and kneels on the catwalk, looking down at the different levels where the Grudeks are now loudly working.
John: "What about you?"
Lady Pilot: "We are old. We must accept our time is soon anyway. Perhaps in passing we can serve some purpose for others."
John looks over at the alien: "She's the Mother Theresa of the Uncharted Territories." Looking back at the Pilot: "No. You don't mind if we fight for you, do ya? Do you have any DRD's left with weapons?"
The Grudeks can be heard down belong, calling out to each other as they work.
Grudek: "Get ready to drill."
Another Grudek answers him.
John leaves the Pilot and hurries over to kneel by the female alien.
John: "Can we negotiate with these guys?"
Alien: "That is not their way."
John: "Grumpex my ass. Time for a show of force."
Alien: "If we had any."
John comes over and sits on the edge of the catwalk, beside the female alien. He laughs, then yells down to the Grudeks: "No! Pavol Paruuk!" The 1st Grudek peers upwards. John turns to the alien: "Didn't get that one, did 'ya, cause it's Klingon." He hollers downwards again: "Time for you guys to clear out!"
The 1st Grudek yells back at John: "There is no quarrel with you. Remain clear and you may live." Several Grudeks have weapons pointed up at John.
John: "Well no. No, not if you destroy my ship."
1st Grudek: "Flee then. I award safe passage." The other Grudeks yell in response to this. The 1st Grudek turns away.
John: "Hah! You know what? Flip that around. You got sixty microts..."
The 1st Grudek turns back and starts firing his weapon at John. The female alien gasps. John pulls out Winona and shoots back at him.
John yells at the female alien as she runs from the den: "It's a show of force. It's the only thing that Klingons understand!"
He ducks and shoots back as he is nearly hit by weapon fire from the Grudeks. He rolls backwards and onto his feet. He keeps shooting Winona down at the Grudeks as he runs along the catwalk, finally joining the female alien just outside the den door.
Alien: "Make them think you're dead."
John, breathing hard: "Okay, Sputnik." He walks back into the den and yells: "You missed!" He fires back down into the ship. The 1st Grudek immediately fires back.
1st Grudek: "Release the Brindz Hound!" The other Grundeks laugh.
John: "Hound?" He runs out of the den, after the female alien.
1st Grundek: "Ulf!"
John follows the female alien down a corridor.
John: "What're we talking, tracking dog?"
Alien: "Blood hunter."
John: "How big?"
The female alien gestures with her hands.
John stops in his tracks: "What?! You see this?" He holds up his pulse pistol. "Itty bitty doggie ain't gonna like it." He turns and starts to leave in the opposite direction.
The female alien is looking around where she has stopped: "There should be a pressure hatch here, to a crawl space between..."
John interrupts her and gestures towards the ceiling: "Hamman side, two tiers up."
Alien: "No, no. Leviathan schematics clearly indicate that there should be a ...."
John interrupts her again: "Schematics? What schematics. I thought you were an expert."
Alien: "I am." She walks back towards John. "I found the burial space." She walks back to where she was standing. "There should be a hatchway and it should be here."
John walks towards her, swinging his arms: "Every Leviathan grows to accomodate it's passengers. Its Pilot's whim. It's... oh, my goodness." He hurries over to her. "You've never been on one before, have you? You can't learn Leviathans in the library. Hamman side." He runs off.
There is a loud, growling noise.
The female alien takes a deep breath and follows him: "All right. None of the doors work?"
John: "Because it's a dying ship."
As they are running down a corridor they suddenly flatten themselve against the wall. A huge dog-like creature runs past them, headed in the opposite direction. It is running about halfway up the wall, growling as it runs.
John pulls his pistol: "Nice puppy." He backs away, into the middle of the corridor.
John: "Baby, stick with me..." He notices that the female alien is no longer standing on the corridor floor. She is quickly running up the wall to cling near the ceiling.
John: "Oh... okay."
The Brindz Hound runs past, nearly at the alien's height on the wall. John fires his pistol at it three times but it continues past him. John ends up sitting on the floor as it goes by. He quickly gets back up.
Alien: "Shift your gravity center. Hurry!" She is now clinging to the ceiling of the corridor.
John: "Do what?"
The hound is returning, so John dives into an access hatch off to the side of the corridor. He is too big to fit all the way into the shaft and the hound comes up behind him and takes a big bite out of the back of his leg. John screams in pain.
In the cargo bay, the female alien is working on the wound on John's leg. John has a piece of cloth in his teeth, pulling it tight.
Alien: "This is big."
John (through clenched teeth with cloth in them): "Obviously, you need to get out more." He takes the cloth out of his mouth. "Is it torn bad?"
Alien: "No, but it's the largest vein I've ever seen."
John half laughs: "It supplies blood to my leg. It lets me move faster, run away. Obviously it needs to be bigger."
Alien: "It needs to be smaller. Everything, smaller, lighter. Otherwise you'll never be able to shift your gravity center."
John: "I wouldn't need to shift my damn gravity center if it wasn't for you. What happened between you and the Grudeks? Why did you run away?"
Alien: "I don't think that is anything you need to know." She pulls hard on the cloth bandage she has placed around John's leg.
John cries out in pain: "Sputnik, if we don't work together, we die. That's all the need to know, I need to know."
Alien: "I was... too good." She stops working on John's leg and walks a few feet away, twiddling her hair, letting it fall down from the springs it had been in. "A simple Leviathan travel route was all they expected. By finding the Sacred Burial Space, with mature toubray flesh, I... I sabotaged myself."
John has gotten up and put his pants back on while she was talking: "Right. They didn't want you to tell anybody."
Alien: "My loss counts as breach. They won't even have to pay fees to my organization."
John laughs: "Somebody sign that contract? Kinda makes me wanta kill you myself."
Alien: "I think if you wait, they will do that for you."
Several Grudeks are marching along a corridor in the Leviathan...
1st Grudek: "We climb two levels higher, then begin searching anew."
The other Grudeks grunt in response.
John and the female alien are sitting down, hiding.
John: "How do you know they'll come this way."
Alien: "The lights are still on. The air is still circulating. They have not found the etal cavity yet." Her hair is now hanging down in ringletts.
John: "The what?"
Alien: "The richest, most prized toubray comes from Leviathan's very first neural cell. Defleshing it shorts out everything else."
John looks over at the "1812" DRD that is sitting nearby and whispers: "1812, gun."
The DRD lifts its light stalks and gun and makes a little squeak. John points away with his chin.
John: "This is a very nice profession you've chosen." He smirks.
Alien: "Thank you."
The Grudeks are talking amongst themselves as they near John and the Alien's hiding place.
Grudek: "Conductivity tests indicate upper quadrant."
Another Grudek: "Wardol, this next location..."
John whispers: "Ambush time. Stay quiet." He has his pistol aimed in the direction of the voices.
The Grudeks approach the doorway to the bay John and the Alien are hiding in. Suddenly....
Chiana comms: "Crichton?"
The Grudeks jump back in alarm: "Back! Back!"
Chiana: "I know you're here." She giggles. "Rygel and I are starin at your pimple of a module in this wreck of a maintenance bay."
Rygel comms: "Crichton?"
The 1st Grudek comes to the edge of the doorway and listens.
Chiana: "Where's Moya? Where are you?"
John puts his head in his hands and scratches his beard. The female alien looks at him in amazement.
END OF ACT ONE
ACT TWO
The 1st Grudek yells from just outside the doorway. John and the female alien are huddled down behind some crates and things inside.
1st Grudek: "Center chamber as I recall. No exits!"
John still has his head in his hands, fingering his beard.
Alien: "They know we're here."
John: "Oh, nothin gets by you, does it?"
Suddenly, the female alien jumps up and goes to the door.
John: "Wait!"
The female alien goes outside the chamber, up to the Grudek commander.
1st Grudek: "Sikozu Shanu."
Sikozu: "Warlord Ilkog. I beg your tolerance and pledge never to tell anyone about this place."
John is listening, holding Winona up by his ear."
IlKog: "Yes certain..." He nods vigorously and she smiles. "...when you are dead." He puts his rifle into her middle and pushes her backwards.
John appears in the doorway: "Now I know, that once you had amnesty, you were gonna mention my name. Right?"
Sikozu turns to look at John as he speaks.
John smiles at her and laughs, then whips around and points his pulse pistol at the Grudek commander. He puts an arm around Sikozu, holding her in front of him as though she were a hostage. "1812" zooms over beside him.
Ilkog yells: "Grudeks! Wait!"
John: "Your earlier offer. The runaway program? We'll take it."
John edges around the Grudek while holding onto Sikozu and keeping Winona right on the Grudek.
After John and Sikozu are past him, Ilkog starts after them, slowly. Other Grudeks come up behind him.
Ilkog: "Grudeks. When they reach the corner, all fire as one."
John stops. He looks back over his shoulder, then down at Sikozu.
John yells: "1812!!"
The DRD starts playing the music and shooting off its gun. The Grudeks fire at John, then duck. John and Sikozu run around the corner.
Sikozu: "This way!"
She and John run in opposite directions.
"1812" continues to fire at the Grudeks.
Sikozu runs down the corridor. As she does, the Brindz Hound comes up on her, along the wall. It dashes past her, biting off her left hand and leaving just a stump. Sikozu holds up the stump and stares at it. She throws her head back and screams!
In the maintenance bay...
John is shaving in a broken piece of mirror. He appears to have already cut his hair. There is a DRD near him, holding up its light stalks. Chiana slaps at some rags that are hanging in her face.
Chiana: "If Psycho led these sledgenaughts aboard, then why are we keeping her alive?"
Sikozu is sitting nearby, wrapping clothes around the stump of her arm.
John: "Pip, cut her some slack. She just had her hand ripped off."
Rygel "sleds" over to John: "And you haven't seen Moya?"
John: "I told you, Sparky, she got swallowed."
Rygel: "Well, our pod's not going anywhere. We were lucky to get this far."
Chiana goes over to Sikozu and tries to take a piece of orange cloth that is lying near her. Sikozu grabs the other end of it and they struggle for a moment, both grunting and gasping.
John: "Chiana? What the hell's the matter with you?"
Chiana looks at John and throws the cloth at Sikozu: "With me?" She stands up.
John: "Yah, you."
Chiana: "What's the matter with me?"
John: "You."
Chiana walks over to John and Rygel: "Hey, Ryg, how 'bout you tell Crichton, what's the matter with me."
Rygel: "Why are you shaving now?"
John just smiles.
Chiana backs away: "You're what's the matter with me, Crichton. You... always you."
She activates a small device and a projection of Mele-on Grayza appears above it...
Voice of Commandant Grayza: "An unprecedented reward is offered for information leading..." A second projection appears, this one of John.
Chiana "fast-forwards" the device.
A projection of D'Argo appears.
Voice of Grayza: "dead-or-alive price of five million currency pledges rests on the Nebari..."
Now, a projection of Chiana is showing.
Commandant Grayza: "...Chiana, who was last seen..."
Chiana laughs and knocks over the device, which stops tranmitting.
Chiana: "They're everywhere. In every bar, every port, every ship that can fly." She comes over to John: "Hey." She kisses John on the lips. "We had nowhere to go but here, and all because of you."
John smiles.
Rygel: "I'm worth seven million. That's frelling with her head too."
Chiana runs over and punches Rygel, pushing his thronesled back. She hisses at him and he growls at her.
Chiana turns back to John: "Why are you shaving now?
John: "I finally figured out wormholes." He wipes his face with a gold cloth.
Rygel: "You did? All that wormhole nonsense we put up with?"
John: "Yep. I can get you home."
Rygel: "Hmmm."
John: "If I knew where home was... or where we are. Or where the wormhole network is."
Chiana: "Yah. And if we weren't trapped with only two weapons and about to die."
John: "Well, the good news is, who better to save a Leviathan than us, huh?"
Chiana: "Humm." She nods and starts looking at a gun with a loose wire.
John: "So... we stay away from doggie. We find the Grudeks and we bring 'em down, so..."
Sikozu (she is holding up the stump of her arm and staring at it): "Get it."
John: "Yah, she says her flesh will re-bond, so, Ryg, you go fetch her hand." He goes over to where Chiana is working: Pip, you're with me." John picks up the gun she was working on and Chiana hits him, hard, on the side of his face/neck/shoulder.
Rygel: "Why me?"
John rubs the spot where Chiana hit him: "Severed heads, severed hands. It's a motif.
John and Chiana are walking along a corridor. Chiana is carrying the gun.
Chiana: "Get rid of the animal. How hard can that be?"
John: "You saw Sikozu's hand, or lack thereof."
Chiana stops in the middle of the corridor: "Yah. And I saw her. Don't. Confuse. Us."
John jumps over, grabs Chiana and pulls her out of the corridor, slamming her up against the wall. Chiana screams and struggles to get away from him. She is very angry sounding. He slams her against the wall twice more, before he can talk. Chiana is half screaming, half sobbing and she is breathing hard.
John: "Alright. Let's talk about it. Whatever "it" is." He holds both her hands to pin her against the wall.
Chiana: "You know th... those visions I was havin?"
John: "Yah."
Chiana: "Yah, well they evolved."
John: "Into what?"
Chiana screams, a deep-throated scream. She takes a deep breath and slaps half-heartedly at his arm.
Chiana: "There's a... a cheat proof game at the casinos. A, uh, a mecury droplet it... it bounces off an island stream. And then there's a thousand different outcomes..."
John: "Yah, right. You won."
Chiana: "Seven times. In a row. They arrested me. They took my winnings. They had a little fun and... and... and a little torture noth... nothin new."
John: "On the upside, you're not crazy. You see the future."
Chiana: "That's what's so weird. I... I see the present... only it's just slo, it... it slows down."
John: "So what's the bad?"
Chiana: "Blinding headaches afterwards. It's... it's like my eyes, they... they... they get all used up and I... I can't see. And, uh. And each time it happens it... it lasts longer."
John: "We get outta here, we find someone to fix it."
Chiana smiles a wan smile.
John: "Before then, we gotta find a way to screw the pooch, and I'm gonna need a rope, a rabbit and a membrane."
Chiana: "Ropes are mine. Rest is yours."
Grudeks can be seen on several levels, working. There is a lot of banging and hammering and the sound of motor driven tools.
Rygel comms quietly: "Crichton. I'm as near as I can get. They're still down here."
They appear to be spraying a chemical on the walls of the Leviathan. One of the Grudeks yells: "Grodek. This cell is not etal."
2nd Grudek: "But we are near!"
1st Grudek: "Up one, over one!" He gestures and climbs from one cell to another.
Aeryn, in her bikini, is lying on her side so that her pregnant belly is facing out. John's hand is reaching from behind her and he is touching the belly with his finger. Aeryn jumps when her belly moves.Aeryn: "Ahh!"
John: "Hahahaha. There it is. That's a Crichton kick. Boy." He is smiling.
Aeryn: "Yah. Girls do kick harder." She is leaning on an elbow, so she can see John.
John: "Maybe it's not mine at all."
Aeryn laughs and shakes her head: "You just won't let that rest, will you?"
John: "No, maybe it's got a little ponytail and a teeny tiny goatee."
Aeryn: "Maybe."
John: "Maybe there's half a metal face on it."
Aeryn: "Maybe."
John: "Maybe it's a royal pain in the ass, eats all the time and farts a lot."
Aeryn: "Then we'll know it's yours."
John laughs.
Aeryn laughs and sticks out her tongue at John.
John: "Ahh." He feels her belly again. "That's a Crichton kick."
Aeryns gasps.
Rygel is floating along a corridor in the Leviathan. He passes an opening and sees John sitting, leaning against a wall, with a hand on "1812".
Rygel: "Ahh. Still obsessed, I see."
John: "I'm not obsessed. Did she say anything to you before she left?"
Rygel is holding Sikozu's severed hand: "Good-bye, good luck, good riddance." He laughs.
John smiles: "That's what you said. And, I'm not obsessed."
Rygel, counting on his fingers: "Ohh, wormholes, Aeryn, Earth, Aeryn, Scorpius, Aeryn." He laughs again: "I'm out of fingers. Want me to keep counting on hers?" He holds up Shikozu's hand.
John puts his head back, on the wall: "Aeryn."
Rygel sighs and his eyebrows droop.
John: "She say anything to you before she left?"
Rygel: "Oh, Crichton. For once, listen. When a woman, whether she's your wife, your lover, or a slave you purchased to be your wife or lover, leaves you repeatedly, take the hint."
John: "Well... that was the plan but, you know how my plans go." He grins.
Sikozu is putting coins into the outstretched hand of one of the Grudeks. He hands her a small, pointed object.
Grudek: "The bargain is struck."
Chiana comes up behind them: "Can't say I'm surprised." She fires her gun.
Sikozu and the Grudek turn towards her and the Grudek fires his weapon. Chiana shoots him with her rifle and he falls down. Chiana laughs.
Sikozu: "You have ruined it!" She approaches Chiana, who brings the rifle up to bear on her.
The Grudek groans and tries to lift his weapon. Chiana shoots him again. Sikozu kicks the rifle out of Chiana's hand, spinning her around. Sikozu runs sideways up a wall. Chiana runs towards her and Sikozu kicks her in the face. Chiana cries out and turns away, a hand to her face. Sikozu laughs and climbs higher and over towards Chiana. Chi jumps up and grabs Sikozu, pulling her down to the floor. They both scream as Chiana tries to strangle Sikozu. They begin to fight with their fists and feet. Chiana pulls Sikozu's hair and hits her again, then kicks her in the back of the knees, knocking her down. Chi jumps on her with a scream and John grabs her by both arms and pulls her off and away from Sikozu. Chiana struggles to get away from him and Sikozu jumps up.
John: "Enough! Enough."
Rygel floats between them.
Sikozu: "Look at what she did!"
Chiana: "Look what she did. Ahh!"
The body of the slain Grudek is still smoking from being hit.
Chiana: "Freaky... made a deal with rotting flesh over there, and he tried to kill me."
Sikozu: "Because she shot at him first."
Chiana nods towards the corpse: "You see what that is? You know what that is?"
She stares at the coins spilling out of the Grudek's hand.
Chiana: "Come on. Tell me."
Rygel: "Crindars. Scarran currency."
Chiana: "You betcha. And you know... you know where he get it from? Her."
Sikozu points at each of them, in turn: "Nebari, Hynerian, and you. All from the Peacekeeper realm. What kind of currency do you have in your pocket?"
John: "Uhh, Pip, you think she's a Scarran?"
Sikozu: "No, of course I'm not. I'm Kalish, and we hate the Scarrans. But I did grow up in their territory, yes."
John: "So, uh, what was the plan?"
Sikozu shoves Rygel out of the way and goes over to John. Rygel gasps. Sikozu holds the small pointed object she got from the Grudek up so John can see it.
Sikozu: "This." Chiana makes a grab for it, but John is holding her arms too tightly.
Sikozu: "Bloodless, I'll bet you know what that is too."
Chiana: "It's a nebula pod, from a flight racer."
John: "That?"
Sikozu nods and walks back towards the dead Grudek: "He liked me. I bought us an escape vehicle! After they left, he was going to leave his ship behind, so we could live!"
There is a flash of light and an explosion. Everyone is jolted and Rygel drops Sikozu's hand. She sees it and gasps. Running over to it, she grabs it up, sinks to her knees and jams it onto the stump of her arm. She nods and takes a deep breath.
Sikozu: "They have found the etal cavity." She licks her lips. "This ship will be dead soon, or shortly thereafter. So... what was your plan?"
Chiana shrieks and struggles to get away from John again.
END OF ACT TWO
ACT THREE
Crichton has a rope tied around his waist, leading off towards a open hatchway.
Rygel: "An open hatchway. Why aren't we sucked out?"
John points to Sikozu: "Ask her." He sits down on the edge of another hatchway and starts threading the rope through a knot.
Sikozu: "The Pilot is using the Leviathan's mass to generate an electo-static membrane."
John: "One puncture, and vavoosh!" He gestures with his hand. "1812" is near him, on the floor.
Chiana: "That's totally insane."
Sikozu: "You did not run into the Brindz Hound." She has reattached her severed hand, but is holding it awkwardly.
Rygel: "Hmmm."
Sikozu: "We will never get close enough to stop them, while it is loose."
There is another explosion. They are all jolted and steam shoots out of the Leviathan's wall.
Sikozu: "And that means they're harvesting toubray now."
John: "You guys? Go find the "Slaugherhouse Five". Make sure we're ready to move."
Sikozu takes off, but Chiana runs over to John. Sikozu stops in the doorway.
Chiana: "I'm not goin with her."
John: "Pip."
Chiana: "Please?"
John: "She knows Leviathans better than we do."
Chiana sighs and goes over to Sikozu: "Alright, you go first, in case I have to shoot you."
Rygel: "I'll... keep Pilot alert."
John laughs: "Oh no, Sparky. She's fine. You got a job. You ever hear of 'Rabbit to the hound'?"
Rygel laughs nervously.
Chiana is following Sikozu down a corridor. She runs up behind her and pokes her in the back with the rifle. They both grunt, but keep going. They hear the Brindz Hound growl and Chiana spins around to take a look behind them. Sikozu stops.
Sikozu: "Alright. We should split up." She starts back up the corridor.
Chiana: "Wait."
Sikozu: "You go in the... "
Chiana has managed to stay right in front of her.
Sikozu: "Chiana. I told you, I can go places you cannot." She hurries past Chi, going back the way they came.
Chiana: "I'd love to send you to one myself." She shoves her again.
Sikozu stops: "Sarcasm. The hallmark of the sub-educated."
Chiana looks back down the previous corridor, pointing with her rifle: "Ohh, the only hallmark you're gonna be is a small, small smudge on the wall after I shoot you."
Sikozu replies to her from a perch near the ceiling of the corridor: "I told you... I can go places you cannot."
Chiana glares at her, then looks back down the corridor.
Rygel is alone, floating down a corridor, talking to himself.
Rygel: "Arrg. He has absolutely no appreciation of my worth in a crisis."
There is a noise. Rygel spins around and gasps. He screams and takes off rapidly in another direction.
Rygel hides behind a crate or box. He is breathing heavily.
Rygel: "Let him find his own frelling hound."
He hears a low-throated growl. He gasps and peers around the box. Floating up to get a better view, he looks over the top of the box, out into the corridor. The Brindz Hound is standing in the corridor, right in front of the door to the bay where Rygel is hiding. It hisses and growls again, and Rygel farts. The Brindz Hound turns and looks into the bay. It comes halfway in and Rygel gives a little, high-pitched laugh.
John is standing up by the open hatchway and "1812" is perched on the ledge of it, on a little rug. The membrane covered hatchway is at his back. "1812" is shooting paint at the membrane and it begins to look like it is closed.
John: "It's beautiful. You're Picasso. Mmwah!" He puts his fingers to his lips and kisses them. He picks up "1812" and sets him on the floor outside the chamber.
John: "Alright. I want you to go hide. Run away. It's gonna be ugly. You don't want to see this." John climbs out through the hatchway and follows the DRD: "It's dinner time."
John goes a little way up the corridor, carefully stringing the rope behind him.
John: "Mmaaah!" He makes a sound like a goat. He holds up his hands like paws and sort of prances. "Mmaaaaaah! Come see the tastey human goat. Staked out like an idiot. Mmaaah!"
He looks up as he hears Rygel.
Rygel: "Whoa, hoo, hoo. You wanted him, you got him."
Rygel zips across the corridor, in one entrance and out another. The Brindz Hound zooms past, following Rygel, but immediately stops and turns back to face John.
John stares him down: "Mmeeeh!" He has both hands on the rope that's around his waist. "What'sa matter? You not hungry? Red rover, red rover, send Kujo right over."
The Brindz Hound snorts, growls and hurls itself at John.
John hops behind a wall, yells and throws himself over the open hatchway, on to the floor. The Brindz Hound stops at the hatchway and looks in. John pops back up, looking out into the corridor. The Brindz Hound is standing opposite him.
John: "Mmaaah! Come on, doggie." He growls at the hound. The hound is growling quietly at him, and shifting around. It looks at John but appears not to be able to make up its mind to attack.
John: "Damn you! Come on. Come on. Come on, yah, yah, yah, come on." John stands up, a little way inside the room and turns sideways, showing his leatherclad posterior to the hound. He pats his left cheek, swaying suggestively: "You want some'a this? Yah! Grade A Prime American beef. Come on. Come on, damn you! Hey! Hey!"
The hound makes a leap for John's butt. John dives onto the floor, out of the way, and the hound hits the membrane opposite him, bounces off, flies around the room and back out the open hatch.
John stands back up: "What the hell's your problem? Can't even hit a door." He turns and backs into the room, swaying and slapping with the rope. "Come on! Come on, baby. Bring it on! Yah! You know you want some'a this. Come on!" He is slapping at the floor with the rope, looking a bit like a cross between a bronco rider in a rodeo and a member of the Chip-n-dales. Waahoo! Right here, right here, right now!" He turns his right cheek towards the hound and slaps it. The hound explodes into the room, flying past John's head and circles the room. John puts his arms up to guard his face. It zooms around and around, with John just barely dodging it. John looks towards the fake hatch and back at the hound. He turns back and stares at the membrane. As he's standing there, the hound makes a lunge. It misses John and hits the painted membrane full on. It breaks the membrane and flies out into space. John turns back in towards the room and grabs hold of the rope. He makes a dive for the open hatchway. He is sucked back, away from it and he yells. He is being pulled out into space, but manages, slowly, to pull himself hand-over-hand back in towards the open hatchway against a strong wind. He finally gets one hand on the inside of the hatchway and struggles over it, into the corridor. He lies flat on the floor, still holding tight to the rope.
John: "Door! Door! Door! Door! Door!" The hatchway finally closes. John lies there, panting. "1812" zips over to him and looks at him with his light stalks.
John nods at him: "Thanks." "1812" squeaks. John holds one thumb up. "That was a plan."
Sikozu is sneaking down a corridor, past some ripped wires. The Grudeks can be heard talking to each other, in the distance. Sikozu goes to a door way and looks out into the center column. She can see Grudeks working on several levels. From behind her, she hears...
Warlord Ilkog: "Enterprising you are. Expecting you I have been."
Sikozu slowly turns and looks at him.
Warlord Ilkog: "What to do now?"
END OF ACT THREE
ACT FOUR
There is another jolt, and Sikozu hugs the wall.
Warlord Ilkog: "You know, Shikozu. A chance you took to come here."
Sikozu: "Understand. By contracting for my service, I am forbidden to reveal anything."
Warlord Ilkog: "The pathetic bearded one must offer little hope for you to risk my mercy."
Sikozu: "Highly ineffective, but he will fight."
Warlord Ilkog: "We will be gone before they can reach us. My worries now are few."
Sikozu: "I hope I am not one of them." She moves around, closer to the Warlord.
Warlord Ilkog: "Go back. Diverge them astray." He reaches out and touches her hair. He puts his hands on her shoulders. She looks very uncomfortable.
Warlord Ilkog: "When we withdraw, I shall honor your contribution and take you with us."
Sikozu smiles up at him and squirms away: "Thank you, Warlord. My blessings."
He watches her leave.
Sikozu comes back out into the corridor. She holds up her previously severed hand. She looks at it and smiles and she gingerly flexes the fingers. The hand is still wrapped at the wrist with a rag. She heads off down a different corridor. John leaps out and grabs her as she walks. He immediately covers her mouth with his hand, so her scream of alarm is muffled. He drags her backwards down the corridor.
John: "You're not exactly a team player, are you? Don't worry, I'm not gonna hurt'cha. Told Chiana she could do that."
Sikozu shrieks through his hand again: "Mrmphf!"
John slams her down and kneels over her, face to face. She cries out. He whispers: "Alright. Here's the deal. We're gonna be really, really quiet, so the Pirates of the Caribbean don't hear us, that okay?"
There is a jolt and Rygel, who has come up beside her, gasps. There is a gun near Sikozu's head that must be being held by Chiana. They are in the Lady Pilot's den.
John: "All right then, tell this poor sport here how many kids you got."
Lady Pilot: "Six, before I was joined with Elack."
John whispers right next to Sikozu's face: "You're a mommy killer. How does that make you feel?"
Sikozu: "I do not choose my assignments. I simply follow orders."
Chiana laughs.
John: "Follow orders? I thought you were smart. You can't come up with somethin better than that?"
Sikozu: "I studied harder than you could imagine. I sacrificed more than you will ever attain. Do not presume to moralize with your narrow perspective."
Chiana: "Hey! Listen... to what Pilot intercepted." She puts a headphone on the squirming Sikozu.
Voice of Grudek ship: "Returning to retrieve you now, Warlord. No other suitable Leviathans found.
Voice of Ilkog: "Grodex. Was the message sent?"
Voice of Ship: "Her employers are aware, Sikozu's own errors in judgement cost her her life." The transmission is cut off.
Chiana giggles as she removes the headset: "Welcome to the universe."
Sikozu: "No. No, that's... that's not fair. That's not right. I will not have my reputation tainted by a negative report."
John: "Allow me to give you another narrow perspective."
Sikozu struggles to get free.
John: "Your options are limited. So you can either help or we're gonna truss you up like a Christmas turkey and pop you in the bilge."
Sikozu: "Do I have another option?"
John smiles and shakes his head: "No."
Sikozu and John are perched on a catwalk...
Sikozu is fiddling with the bandage on her wrist: "You have to resist shooting at them."
John: "Yes, I got it."
Sikozu: "If the hoses are ruptured in the wrong order, you'll create an air-fuel bomb that will destroy the whole ship."
John finishes her sentence with her: "... air-fuel bomb that will destroy the entire ship. Yes." He nods and smiles.
John, looking down: "Chiana. You don't have to do this if you don't want to."
Chiana is standing down below, by the effluvium at the base of the column: "I said I would, Crichton. Just go." She is tightening a rope around her waist.
John: "Yah, but if you don't wanta..."
Rygel, sitting with the Lady Pilot, interrupts: "Oh, for yotz sake, she gets more blind from drinking razlak."
Chiana looks up and cinches the rope tighter.
John grabs hold of a hanging rope: "Right. By popular demand." He grabs a huge bundle of ropes and tosses them down off the catwalk. They fall, unnoticed, past the working Grundeks, past the Pilot and Rygel and the end finally lands near Chiana. She picks up the end and attaches it to the rope around her waist.
John: "Alright, when Chiana gets up here, she comes off, bucket of bolts goes on, zip." He gestures to a bucket sitting on the catwalk near Sikozu. She nods.
John stands on the edge of the catwalk and tests the rope that is around his waist: "Alright Pip. Your call."
Chiana holds the rope. She takes a deep breath: "Let's fly!"
John leaps feet first off the catwalk. As he falls, Chiana's rope tightens and she begins to rise in the air. The rope is traveling over a pulley attached to the ceiling. As John falls past the level where the Grudeks are working, one of them notices him and calls out to the others.
Grudek: "Warlord Ilkog! He was falling."
Ilkog, looking down: "Where?"
Grudek: "There. I swear an oath!"
John and Chiana pass each other, going in opposite directions, near the Pilot's den. Rygel gasps as they go past.
Warlord Ilkog sees Chiana rising towards him: "What is that?" He begins shooting at her, as does the other Grudek. Chiana's eye uses the light to focus on three hoses that are in front of the Grudeks, coming out of a large pointed cylinder. Time seems to slow down, as the shots go past her and she concentrates on visualizing the hoses. She locates where they originate from and they show reflected in her iris. There is a faint whispering noise and Chiana appears to pass out. The shots the Grudeks are firing are now going at normal speed although still missing her, and the sounds return to
normal.
John lands on the bottom catwalk with a thud. At the top, Sikozu reaches out to grab Chiana's rope. Chiana is turned, facing away from her
Chiana: "I'm blind. Just lights and shapes."
John: "Get her down."
Sikozu, still trying to reach Chiana: "Tell me about the hoses."
Chiana: "White... far right, white hose. Mmmm, some kind of mist."
Sikozu: "Frozen hydrogen dixoride."
Chiana, still twirling around, reaching: "In the center, orange welding pipe. Black jackhammer on the left. Errg! Where's your frelling arm?"
Sikozu: "Stop spinning and reach for it!" She holds out her injured arm towards Chiana.
John: "What's the order?"
Sikozu: "Right, left..."
Chiana grunts from effort, trying to grab Sikozu's arm.
Sikozu: "... left, center. No deviation."
John: "Hydrogen first, right?"
Sikozu: "Then adding the jackhammer's pressurized grontium should prevent the explosion from being catastrophic."
John: "Light it up with the well..."
Chiana grabs at Sikozu's arm and howls.
Shikozu: "Not my hand!"
Chiana grabs her injured hand and it comes off again. Chiana hangs on to it and gives it a sniff.
Sikozu: "Ohhh! You dredgenaught!"
Chiana wimpers and reaches again, this time grabbing the stump of Sikozu's arm.
Sikozu screams: "No! no! no!"
She loses her balance and falls off the catwalk, wrapping her arms and legs around Chiana. Their combined weight causes John to begin to rise in the air, as they fall.
John cries out in alarm and Rygel gasps, seeing them. Sikozu continues to yell: "No! No!" as they fall. The Grudeks immediately spot them and begin firing. One of them aims at the girls, the other aims at the rope.
While he is rising towards the Grudeks, John yells: "1812! Covering fire!" He pulls his pulse pistol and begins firing.
The DRD "1812" is sitting on the Pilot's console. It begins to play the music.
John: "Damnit! Covering fire!"
Sikozu continues to scream, without words now.
The music continues.
Rygel: "Fire you frellnik, fire!"
John continues to rise and he takes aim at the hoses: "Right, center... no, right, left, center. Ohh!"
Rygel: "Oh, Dren, dren, dren!"
The Grudeks are concentrating their fire on John and the rope he is hanging from. The explosions flash in his face.
John: "Right." He shoots at the hoses. "Left." He shoots again. "Center." He shoots are white sparks shoot out, like sparklers. "Whoo hoo!"
There is a huge explosion from the level where the Grudeks are working. One of them leaps off the edge. Rygel and Pilot cry out in alarm.
John: "Yah!" He watches the explosion as he continues to rise. Above him, the rope is fraying from being hit. John looks up at the rope: "Yah, Come on, baby. Yah! Please, baby. Please, baby. Please, baby. Please."
Suddenly, the rope breaks and John starts to fall. He yells.
Sikozu and Chiana land screaming on the bottom catwalk in a heap.
John, as he is falling, calls out: "Ry...gel!" He is waving his arms as he falls, spreadeagle on his back.
Sikozu is on top of Chiana: "Do not drop my hand."
Rygel looks up at the rapidly descending John as he floats out from the den: "Oh, why am I bothering?"
John is now turning, head over heels, in the air.
Rygel holds out his tiny arms: "I gotcha. I gotcha. I, uh..."
John zooms past and Rygel looks down: "... ulp. I tried."
John screams: "Rygel, you bas... tard!"
Rygel: "I tried."
John lands butt first in the dren filled water, sending up a huge splash onto Chiana and Sikozu. Sikozu wimpers. She is holding onto Chiana.
Rygel: "Oh, dren."
After a couple of microts, a hand sticks up out of the muck, then John's head surfaces. He shakes it and takes a gasping breath. There is another flare of light and Shikozu and Chiana inch back, further away from the edge. John continues to shake his head. He grabs hold of an edge of the catwalk and quietly pulls himself under it, out of sight from above. Shikozu and Chiana continue to huddle against a wall. John crosses underneath the catwalk and comes out the other side. Just the top of his head and his eyes are showing above the waterline. He sees something floating near him and goes to look. It is Warlord Ilkog, dead, in the water.
John: "No Pilot meurte." He pulls himself half out of the water, onto the catwalk: "No more meurte." The Warlord just floats there, unseeing eyes staring upwards.
END OF ACT FOUR
EPILOGUE
John sits down next to Sikozu, on the edge of the catwalk in the Lady Pilot's den.
John: "Alright. Here's the thing. Umm, you might now want to come with us. We are not... the best traveling companions."
Sikozu: "I am going to get my life back. I will not end up like you."
John looks at her and half smiles: "O... kay." He gets up and goes over to the Lady Pilot. Sikozu takes a deep breath and closes her eyes.
John climbs up onto the Pilot's console.
John: "I hate that you're doin this."
Lady Pilot: "The returning Grudek ship would have destroyed us, if we hadn't left the Sacred Space." She gasps. " And we would like to repay our debt... before we pass."
John takes one of her claws in his hands: "You don't owe us... anything."
Lady Pilot: "Never-the-less, if we are able, you shall arrive at the planet where you think your friends may be."
John: "It was your dream. Yours and Elack's, to die there."
Lady Pilot: "No dream is guaranteed, Commander. The grace of age is we... we learn to accept."
Sikozu sits, transfixed, listening to this exchange.
John, dressed all in black but for the rag wrapping his leg wound, walks alone down a corridor. "1812", the DRD, follows him. He looks at a wall...
The camera pans slowly over Aeryn, lying on her side on a blanket, in a bikini. There is no sign of her having been pregnant. John kneels behind her. John: "Not coming here anymore." He cleans his sunglasses on his shirt.
Aeryn turns over onto her back and looks at him: "Why not?"
John: "It doesn't change anything, and it makes me sad." He puts the glasses back on.
Aeryn: "Hmm. So, what's next?"
John: "What's left."
Aeryn: "Wormholes."
John laughs: "I gotta recreate a ton of equations. The new girl smashed 'em up."
Aeryn: "Hmm. New. New is good."
John: "Not always."
A young man in swim trunks and dark glasses hunkers down at the end of the blanket. He is holding two snow cones and hands Aeryn one of them.
Young man (with a broad, Aussie accent): "Who's this?"
Aeryn: "Umm..."
John pulls his sunglasses halfway down his nose and peers at the guy over them.
John: "No one." He takes the second snow cone from the guy's hand. He pushes his glasses back up, stands and walks away, eating the snow cone.
John walks away from the wall he was staring at. He kneels by another one with some writing on it. "1812" squeaks and squeaks at him. John glances down at it, his finger on his mouth. "1812" rams John in the knee and keeps squeaking at him. The DRD rams him again and drops the brush it was carrying. John glances down at it and twirls his finger by his ear. He starts to whistle the "1812 Overature". The DRD answers by playing the next few bars of the song. John smiles and whistles some more. He finally picks up the brush and turns to the wall. He dips the brush in a pot sitting off to the side and writes A + C = B, dips again and underscores the letters. Under the line, he draws a O and puts a line through it. He continues to write, waving his arms to conduct and whistling along with "1812" all the while.
